Rick Santorum wins Louisiana primary

BY JEFF WALKER

With nearly 99% of the vote counted in Louisiana, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has won the state's Republican primary with an overwhelming 49% of the vote.

The wide margin of victory is somewhat of a surprise.  The GOP front runner Mitt Romney, who has failed to get a stranglehold on the nomination, only garnered 27% of the vote.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich just may have hit the end of the road in Louisiana.  It was thought that Gingrich needed at least a second place showing in Louisiana to continue.  Gingrich finished a distant third with only 16% of the vote in Louisiana.

Some in the in political circles think an announcement on his political future by Gingrich could come as soon as Sunday.

Congressman Ron Paul finished in fourth place with only 6% of voters chosing him. .
