The Captains entered Sunday's double header with the Peoria Chiefs alone in first place of the Midwest League Eastern Division with a record of 15-7. They did nothing hurt that and maybe increase the lead on the Sunday getaway day as they swept the doubleheader from the Chiefs. Game one 6-2 and shut out Peoria in game two 4-0.
In game on e the Captains jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Willi Castro bounced a home run off the patio behind the right field fence for his second home run of the season.
A big four run sixth inning sealed the deal for Lake County, as reliever Dominic DeMasi picked up the win and improved to 4-0 with a 3.55 ERA.
In game two the Captains pitching dominated as they shut down the Chiefs, limiting them to only three base runners on three hits.
The bats were alive just enough, scoring four runs on seven hits. Tyler Kreiger went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Conor Marabell had a big double, plating two RBI.
Captains starter Brock Hartson pitched five innings to pick up the win. With the win Hartson improves to 2.0 with a 2.40 ERA.
The Captains now head on the road for a western swing, with stops first in Kane County (Illinois) and then Cinton, Iowa. The trip begins Monday night at 7:30 when against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. RHP Shao-Ching Chiang will be on the mound for the Captains. Chiang is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA.
