Captains lose third in row, falling to Whitecaps 7-2

CAPTAINS BEAT WRITER
The Lake County Captains returned home on Monday from a six game road trip where they went 2-4. The looked to right the ship against the visiting West Michigan Whitecaps. Thing however did not go as planned with the Captains getting blown out 7-2.
West Michigan got on the board first in the fifth inning with three runs off Captains starter Chao-Ching Chiang.
While the Captains bats were silent. The Whitecaps added four more runs in the eighth inning to extend their lead to 7-0.
Lake County picked up their two runs in the ninth inning.
Chiang took the loss for the Captains and falls to 1-3 with a 4.26 ERA.
Toller Boardman picked up the win for the Whitecaps. Boardman pitched two and two thirds innings improving to 2-3 with a 1.59 ERA.
With the loss the Captains are now 19-12 and currently in their first three game losing streak of the year.
The Captains and Whitecaps play game two of the three game series at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. The Whitecaps will send righthander Sandy Baez to the mound. Baez is 0-3 with a 4.08 ERA. The Captains will send lefty Tom Pannone to the hill. Pannone is 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA.
