Terror attack in New Orleans French Quarter kills 15 and injures at least 30

(NEW ORLEANS, LA) - Just a few hours after the clock stuck midnight in New Orleans, Louisianna a terrorist struck the popular French Quarter of the city at 3:15 am. As of 11 pm on Wednesday night innocent victims were dead, and more than 30 others were injured in the attack.
The driver Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove his vehicle, a white pickup truck on to Bourbon Street around a police vehicle into the crowd of pedestrians who were gathered in the popular tourist destination section of the crescent city. He continued down the street mowing down pedestrians until he came to a stop when his vehicle crashed into a construction crane parked on the street.
After crashing his vehicle Jabbar a 42-year-old resident of Texas and U.S. Citizen who served in the U.S. Army pulled out an AR-Style rifle and began firing at officer injuring two who were responding to the attack. Officers returned fire and killed Jabbar. Two officers were injured in the attack.
Several witnesses were surprised that the normal barriers were not up in the French Quarter, but official later explained that the barriers were being repaired in anticipation of the Super Bowl which will be played in New Orleans on February 9th. There were also reports that there was a low police presence which was later disputed by victims and witnesses of the attack, city and Orleans Parish officials and surveillance video at the scene.
It was also revealed that an ISIS flag was found in the vehicle and that Jabbar had posted videos on social media prior to the attack warning that he was going to kill people.
The 2025 Sugar Bowl that was scheduled to be played at the Superdome in New Orleans between Notre Dame and the University of Georgia on Wednesday was postponed and will be played Thursday at 4 pm..
