RubberDucks fall to Sea Dogs 5-3

Summary
Portland’s Aneury Tavarez slugged a pair of solo home runs, and catcher Danny Bethea delivered a pair of clutch RBI, as the Sea Dogs defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 5-3, Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.
Turning Point
The Sea Dogs (44-69) broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth on Bethea’s sacrifice fly off Akron starter Nick Pasquale (1-6). Tim Roberson reached on a single, moved to third on a double by Rainel Rosario, and came home on Bethea’s fly ball to center field.
Winging It
Pasquale lost his sixth straight decision. He allowed four runs on eight hits, including a pair of solo shots by Tavarez. Colt Hynes provided scoreless relief for 1.2 innings. Cole Sulser finished up in the eighth, giving up a run on a RBI double by Bethea that made it.
Duck Tales
All the Ducks runs came on one swing from Luigi Rodriguez, who clubbed a three-run double in the fifth inning to tie the game, 3-3. Eric Haase was 2-4, with a triple. Greg Allen was 1-4, with a double, to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
Notebook
The RubberDucks (56-59) lost two out of three against the Sea Dogs, and finished 1-5 on the road trip…Keith Couch (8-4) started and won for the Sea Dogs, going six innings and allowing just four hits…Time of game: 2:38… Attendance: 7,368.
On Deck
The RubberDucks are off Monday, but will open a sox-game homestand at Canal Park on Tuesday night at 7:05 with the first of three games against the Hartford Yard Goats. RHP D.J. Brown is the expected starter for Akron, and LHP Sam Howard is the announced starter for Hartford. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App.
