Fairport Harding High School kicked off their 100th season tonight against the Brooklyn Hurricanes. It did not go the Skippers way as could be expected after their head coach resigned just two weeks ago as they only had 9 players. In just 24 hours the Skippers had 20+ players hired their new coach and began working on the season.
The Brooklyn Hurricanes started off hot as Junior Jaiden Basinger ran back the opening kick making the score 7-0 just 10 seconds in. The Skippers got the ball back and have no luck having to punt it away. Then Fairport Senior Dillon Knesebeck Intercepted the pass from Hurricanes. The Skippers were not be able to take advantage of the interception and had to punt again.
Then the very next drive Skippers Junior Zane Malkamaki intercepted another pass from the Hurricanes but again could not take advantage and the Skipperes were forced to punt. Then the next drive Hurricane QB Jacob Sullivan would rush for a touchdown making the score 13-0.
Finally Skippers Senior Joey Tanker scored the Skippers only points on a pass from Junior Will Fazekas. At halftime the score remained 13-6.
With 7:20 left in the 3rd quarter the Hurricanes would score again to make the score 19-6. Nothing would happen point wise until the middle of the 4th when the Hurricanes Jaiden Basinger would rush for a 1 yard score to make the score 25-6 which was the eventual final score.
The Skippers travel too Berkshire next Friday to play the Badgers.
