On Thursday night the Lake County Captains and Lansing Lugnuts played game two of their three game series. Thing sis not go well once again as the Captains fell to the Lugnuts 7-4 in front of 2,674 hearty souls at Classic Park.

The story was the same on Thursday night as it was for much of the season as Lansing scored early and often and the Captains could not put enough offense together to overcome another bad pitching effort.

Lansing scored two runs in three separate innings, the first, sixth and ninth innings. They also added a single run in the third inning.

Luis Jimenez made the start for Lake County and was not very good as he lasted five innings allowing five runs, all earned on eight hits and two base on balls along with three strikeouts. Jimenez earned the loss and falls to 2-8 on the years with a 6.60 ERA.

Yennsy Diaz, the starter for Lansing, pitched five and two thirds innings, allowing three runs, all earned on eight hits. Diaz also issued one base on balls and struck out six Captains. Diaz picked up the win and improves to 5-2 with a 4.79 ERA.

The Captains and Lugnuts will play game three of the series on Friday night which is the final home game of the season for Lake County. Juliandry Higuera will make the start for Lansing. Higuera, a lefty is 4-0 with a 5.02 ERA. Brady Aiken will be on the mound for the Captains. Aiken, also a southpaw is 5-13 with a 4.89 ERA
